Baba Oarba Is Ready for Its First Players
We’ve been working on Baba Oarba, and it’s time to let you play it. The alpha is now available on nowwhatgames.com. Bring a few friends and give it a go.
Baba Oarba takes its name from the Romanian version of blind man’s buff. One person tries to catch the others without being able to see them. We took that childhood game and turned it into a multiplayer experience where sound and movement can give you away.
When you play as Baba, most of your view is dark. Brief scans reveal your surroundings, giving you a chance to spot someone before they disappear again. You’ll need to listen carefully and work out where everyone is heading.
If you’re hiding, you have a different problem. Moving might get you caught, but staying in the same place starts to feel like a terrible idea when Baba gets close. And if your friends are anything like ours, someone will panic and make things worse.
That’s the part we enjoy most. Watching people come up with their own tricks, get away with obvious hiding spots, and laugh when a plan falls apart.
The game is still in alpha, so there’s plenty left to improve. You might run into bugs or things that feel unfinished. We’d like to hear about those, along with anything you enjoyed or would like to see changed.
After a few rounds, tell us how it went. Was it easy to understand? Did you enjoy playing as Baba? Was there anything that made you stop wanting to play? Specific feedback helps us decide what needs work next.
You can download Baba Oarba on nowwhatgames.com. If you post a clip, tag @NowWhatGames. We’d love to see what happens in your matches.
Thanks for giving our game a try.
